Mana! Mana! Mana!

Congratulations to us! 

Back in week 1 we set the goal of winning Mana the Lion in Assembly. It is week 3 and we have received Mana for the week. Well done to the class who demonstrated PRIDE during Assembly.

Congratulations to Aila for receiving the Principals Award for Week Two. She has been persevering to get her work completed and then posted onto her blog.

Green Screen and Moving Making

Here is another snippet of what we are working on this week. First practice using the green screen.

It has begun...We have started putting together our props ready for our movies/plays. Keep an eye out for more photos to get an idea of what we are doing.

Certificates for Week 1

Congratulations to Dallas who received the first of the newly designed Principal's Awards. She has been showing all PRIDE Values in the classroom. Keep up the great work Dallas.

Reach for the Stars - Matariki Art and Writing

Last term we looked at stories based on Matariki. Here is our new wall display with our hands and our writing. The class had to work with a partner to write a sentence using a language feature we have learnt throughout the year. Some students wrote a sentence using alliteration, personification or a simile.

Tongue Twisters

To help with our movie making what have been doing so fun warm up activities. We have been trying to say some well known tongue twisters.

Term 3

We have started Term Three off with a hiss and a roar. Room Totara has jumped right back into lots of work.

Today we saw the launch of Mana the Lion and all of our PRIDE rewards. Each class received a box of goodies with PRIDE Certificates, Mana Moments, Mana Tick-its, Principals/Deputy Principal's Certificates and our very own Mana.

We have a very large Mana the Lion (80cm tall) which Room 12 were proud to be presented with for the week. They were the best class during Assembly this week. Room 15 hope to receive Mana proudly in the next few weeks by demonstrating PRIDE in Assembly.

Opunake & Coastal News - June 19 2015 Issue

We made it into the Opunake & Coastal News for the second time this year. Thank you to Mrs Stanley who used her donation from Shell Todd Oil Services to buy our school some books. Mazzlin and Shakshi were the two students who thanked the ladies when they were presented to our school.

Homework Certificates

Congratulations to those students who brought in their homework each week for Term Two. For their efforts they each received a certificate and a prize. 

Maths: Statistics - Probability

For the last two weeks of the term we have been looking at Statistics - Probability.
Our unit has focussed on:

• using dice to assign roles and discussing the fairness of games.
• playing probability games and identifying all possible outcomes.
• comparing and ordering the likelihood of simple events.

Certificates for Week 9/10

Congratulations to Alex who received the Principal's Award for the last week of Term 2. He has shown great determination in all of his school work. He has also shown that he can be a great leader and supporter of other students in the class.

Congratulations to Connor who received a PRIDE Certificate from Mr McKellar while he was relieving in our class. 

Reading - Endangered List Posters

Today for our Reading Response activity we had to create a poster to support animals that are on the endangered list. Here are some of the posters that were created.

Well done to Sienna-Nicole who was awarded the Principals Award this week. She has been persevering in all of her school work, especially her reading. You are showing great diligence Sienna-Nicole.

Congratulations to Sofia, Levi, Tamzyn, Sequoia and Dante for receiving the PRIDE Certificates for Week 9. We have been working on assessment for the end of the term and these students have been showing great progress in their reading. Keep up the great reading.

PRIDE Certificates for Week 8

Congratulations to Troy, Levi, Luke, Alex, Shakshi and Jessica who received the PRIDE Certificates for Week 8. They have been persevering to get all of their work completed and ready for our Open Day which is happening at the end of the term. Keep persevering.

Farewell Tyrel

This week we bid farewell to Tyrel. He is off to a new school. He is not going far and we will definitely be seeing him around. He will still be participating in our MOA Kluster Awards with his new school. Good luck with your new adventure Tyrel.

We have moved back!!! Woohoo!! Boohoo!!

Tyrel: 

I thought it was fun that we got to do extra jobs like the milk.

Sofia:

I liked that we were right by the deck.

Troy:

I was relieved that we didn't have to stay in the room for that long. I liked that we still got to continue to do our writing, reading and maths while we were in the learning centre.

Alex: 

It seemed strange that we have shifted back to our classroom as I was getting used to the learning centre.

Shakshi:

I didn't like that we had to be extra quiet.

Dallas: 

I liked that we got to enjoy the entire learning centre today.

Sienna:

I had fun in the learning centre.
