Daily 5

This week in Room 15 - Totara we have been working hard on our Daily 5 activities.

 Shakshi is 'Working on Writing'. She is writing about a happy time she has had with her mum.

 Tyrone and Joel are 'Listening to Reading'

 These students are completing a 'Word Work' activity using the dictionary. 

Troy, Tamzyn and Sofia are 'Reading to Self' by reading their poem and completing an activity.

Whiteboard Table

We have been getting some great new equipment to use in our classrooms this week. While Teachers were in Auckland they saw schools using whiteboard tables. We asked Mr Wright if he could paint our large table with whiteboard paint. In the photo below you see Mazzlin, Connor and Reece using the table to help with their Inquiry work.

Certificates for Week 5

Congratulations to Aila who was awarded the Principal's Award for Week 5. She has been using all PRIDE values in the classroom.

ITM Rugby Cup

Yesterday we were lucky enough to get to see and have a photo with the ITM Cup. The cup came around each classroom and we were able to have a look at it and talk about it. Here are some of the photos taken of us with the cup.

Reading - Super Senses

This week for Shared Reading we have been reading about Super Senses. We read about dolphins and how they use 'echolocation' to identify where objects are. We tried it out for ourselves.

Antonym (Opposite) Posters

We have had a busy exciting week with our Reading and Writing. We have been reading about and discussing the differences between the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. This has lead to us writing to different people who live in different countries. We will be posting our emails onto our blog (both our individual and our class blog) when we have finished typing them up.

We have also been discussing antonyms and creating posters demonstrating words opposite in meaning to another (e.g. bad and good).

PRIDE - Swimming Pool Expectations

Over the last few weeks we have been looking at the rules and expectations while at the swimming pool. We have discussed as a class what we should see while at the pool. Members of the class have been putting posters and videos together to show others what we should do and see.
