Science - Learning about Density

All week we have been learning about 'density'. We have talked about different liquids having more/less density. To help us understand it we said that "some liquids/objects have more 'stuff' (atoms/molecules) in them."

We looked at different fruit drinks.
We compared the amount of sugar in each drink and ordered them from most amount of sugar (cranberry juice) to least amount of sugar (water)
We then used a syringe to carefully layer the different juices into our cups.
As we poured the different drinks into our cups we began to see the layers forming.
We each got to make our own layered fruit juice drink...
and the best thing about this science lesson...
we got to drink it afterwards!

Science - Coloured Water Density Tower

Yesterday we started a Science Investigation looking at density. We combined sugar with water and food colouring to make a 'rainbow' tower.

Today we continued our investigation but we used water/salt with one group and water/baking soda with another group.
We got to talk lots about what we observed and discussed why things were happening.
