Certificates for Week 3

Congratulations to Dorian who received the Principal's Award for Week 3. He has been persevering with his maths and this is producing some great results. Keep persevering Dorian.

For the last few weeks we have been working on showing respect to the people in our class and our classroom. Chaytah, Cameron, Joshua, Savannah and Karolin have all been showing respect. Congratulations of receiving PRIDE Certificates for Week 3. 

Writing and Maths Preparation

We have hit the ground running for our first day back. 

Today in writing we watched a video clip about a boy travelling to the moon in a rocket. We began discussing what holiday we would travel back to and throughout the week we will be sharing our diary/recount with others. Lets see what the week will bring and where in the world we will travel back to.

In the afternoon we began creating our own rockets. We will be using the rockets during maths to record how far each rocket can travel. We will be looking at mm, cm, and m.

Certificates for Week 8

Cayden has been demonstrating PRIDE in the class. He has really stepped up in the work that he is completing. Mrs Page was in our class for two days last week and she was very impressed with how he is working. Keep demonstrating PRIDE Cayden.

Week 4 Certificates

The recipient of the Principal's Award for Week 4 was Jordan. He has been working diligently in class and when he works in Room 10. Keep working diligently Jordan.

Mr McKeller has been working in our class for two days. He awarded Savannah and Kaydee with PRIDE Certificates.

Equivalent Fractions

We are continuing to focus on Fractions in our maths. We have been looking at equivalent fractions. Below are some photos of what we discovered while using foam fraction shapes. 

Reading Activity: Creating Homophone Posters

For a reading activity students were to create a poster demonstrating some homophones. Below you will see some of the posters that have been completed so far.

We have been very busy getting ready for Open Day so we have only just downloaded the photos of the Certificate recipients from Week 6.

Wet Lunch: Building a Tower

Today we had our first wet lunch. We were able to keep ourselves occupied. Some students decided to create a very large tower with the blocks that Miss Ogle has in the classroom. We counted all of the blocks and found that our tower used 120 blocks. The tower was so tall that we had to stand on a chair to touch the top of it.

Day One of Skip Counting on the Number Line

Today we were introduced to the activity: 

Skip Counting on the Number Line.

We had to use our number lines to help us skip count in twos.

Throughout the week we will be persevering to skip count higher and higher. We will also skip count in our fives and tens.
