School Cross Country

We had a very successful Cross-Country today. It was great to see so many parents and family members supporting the children. Well done to everyone who ran today.

Work on Writing: Cold Is...

For the last two weeks for Work on Writing we have been working cooperatively to create 'Cold Is...' poems. We have used the Book Creator App to help us put these books together. We then published them as a video.

What is the weather like where you are? 

(Room 15: Totara students try and take some photos of your backyards and we can share them when we are back at school. Email them to Miss Ogle so we can share them in class)

Here are some photos of what we are experiencing at Opunake Primary School today.

Miss Ogle had to stand outside and make sure those that didn't get the message were informed about the school being closed.

Miss Ogle's front lawn was a lake when she woke up.

The school field an hour later. Most of the water has disappeared but there is still a lot of flooding.

Megan from Room 4 took these short clips as she tried to make her way to school this morning (6/8/15). Unfortunately they had to turn back to Hawera and are now enjoying an extra day at home staying safe and dry.

Football Skills - Session One

Today we got to participate in our first session of Football Skills. Although our football session was short we still got to learn a few skills.

Reading - Super Senses

This week for Shared Reading we have been reading about Super Senses. We read about dolphins and how they use 'echolocation' to identify where objects are. We tried it out for ourselves.

PRIDE - Swimming Pool Expectations

Over the last few weeks we have been looking at the rules and expectations while at the swimming pool. We have discussed as a class what we should see while at the pool. Members of the class have been putting posters and videos together to show others what we should do and see.

Totara Class Treaty 2015

We have been putting together our class treaty over the last few weeks. We have talked with each other and completed many activities about our expectations.

MOA Awards 2014

Yesterday we celebrated our MOA Awards. Unfortunately students from Room 15 did not come home with any awards but the school did receive many awards including the SUPREME Award. Please view the video showing photos from the awesome evening. Thank you to Mrs Potroz and Mr Lodge for the photos.

Totara's Rockets - Our first launch

This week for Maths we are working on a measurement unit and converting between mm, cm and m. To help with this we have made some rockets. Today we had our first launch. 

Over the next few days we will make changes to our rockets and see if we can make them fly even further.

Soccer - Week 5

We had our second session of Soccer on Friday. We started the session playing a game of Seaweed. Once we had run around for a while we got the soccer balls and played Seaweed using the balls. In the last 5 minutes we got to enjoy a small game of Soccer.

On Friday Room 12 and 15 went to Tawhiti Museum. When we got back we had a debrief and talked about what we liked most about our trip. Here is a video about what we thought.

Goodbye Miss Carlson

It was Miss Carlson's last day in Room 15: Totara. Miss Ogle and the class have really enjoyed having her with us for the last five weeks.  We look forward to hearing from you when you get back to Canada. Here is a little farewell message from the class.
