Certificates for Week 8

Congratulations Luke. He received the Principal's Award for Week 8. He has been demonstrating PRIDE in all of this work throughout the year. Keep up the great work Luke.

Karome, Keegan, Milly, Joshua and Manix received the PRIDE Certificates for Week 8. They have been persevering with their writing and sharing more of their ideas during class discussions. Keep working hard everyone.

Kaydee received a PRIDE Certificate this week from Mrs Pather. She has been an extra helpful student for Mrs Pather.

Classroom Objects

This term we have been persevering to learn the Te Reo words for Classroom Objects.
- Today students found different objects and placed them on their desks.
- When their partner wasn't looking, each student had to hide an object.
- Their partner had to then guess which object had been removed (by using the Maori word for the object).

Certificates for Week 2

We have continued another great week.
On Friday Zoe was awarded with the Principal's Award.

The PRIDE Awards recipients were:

Similes and Metaphors

For our writing we are learning to add language features to our stories.
We are focussing on similes and metaphors this week.
Here are some examples that students came up with yesterday:

"The star burst through the sky like a rocket."
Karome and Ethan

"The star was as small as a rock."
Kupa and Manix

"The stars are as shiny as glitter."
Ria and Savannah

I wonder what we can come up with today and the rest of the week. Keep watching our blog for more examples of our similes and metaphors.

String Games with Room 14

This afternoon Room 15 were invited to Room 14 to learn some of the string games that were taught on Monday.
Students from the class had seen how much fun people were having and were trying hard to teach themselves how do make some of the string figures. After a day of persevering ourselves Mr Lodge and his class worked with us to show us the steps of creating some of the different string figures.

If you are wanting instruction on how to make some of the string figures you can go to:

Wet Lunch: Building a Tower

Today we had our first wet lunch. We were able to keep ourselves occupied. Some students decided to create a very large tower with the blocks that Miss Ogle has in the classroom. We counted all of the blocks and found that our tower used 120 blocks. The tower was so tall that we had to stand on a chair to touch the top of it.
